His flying 2yo Sir Dreamalot won the LR Supremacy Stakes (1000m) at Ascot on March 23 and he’s on the fifth-line of markets at $11 for the G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) this Saturday. Both Stakes winners are bred on the same cross with A Lot over mares by Oratorio (Stravinsky).
A Lot Of Good Men had been Stakes-placed five times before a thoroughly deserved breakthrough in the classic. “He’s probably been the most consistent horse in the State without winning,” Andrews said. “His three previous wins came at 1200 metres or less, so for him to win a Derby is a credit to the horse.

A Lot Of Good Men (3g A Lot – Cosmah Domination by Oratorio) is a half-brother to G1 Railway Stakes winner Bustler (Playing God) and is a serious horse in his own right with earnings of $753,000 including Westspeed Bonuses of $151,800.
A Lot (Tapit) was a North American national record-holder over 1400m on turf (1.19.23s) before Gray Williamson imported him to stand at Mungrup Stud in 2018. He then took over as foundation stallion at Willaview Park with Williamson’s daughter Claire before a further transfer ensued to take advantage of his great start in the Great Southern.
The immediate success of those early crops saw his service fee rise to $9,350 for his first book at Westbury Park at West Pinjarra in 2023. The move closer to Perth and his ongoing accomplishments has seen his books double with studmaster Phil Ibbotson.
